A Family Recipe, Shared with KUCHT

This homemade apple crisp carries a little piece of family history from generations of “scoops,” “dashes,” and “shakes” to a recipe that can now be shared with a new generation.

We’re grateful to @homewear_designs  for sharing this family recipe and the story behind it with the KUCHT community.

The Story Behind the Recipe

My maternal grandmother and great-grandmother were both incredible in the kitchen. They could cook, bake, and whip up just about anything their kids and grandkids could hope for. They made everything from scratch, with real ingredients. Margarine was basically a curse word.

And if you dared say anything about the calorie or sugar count, my great-grandmother would declare, “Oh honey, it’s just made with my good sugar, butter, flour, and all the love I can bake into it.”

And she was right, it tasted like love.

In honor of fall, I’m sharing their apple crisp recipe. Everything was originally measured in “scoops,” “dashes,” and “shakes,” but through much research, trial and error, and more than a little tasting, I’ve translated it into standard baking measurements.

I hope it tastes like love to you and your family, too.
